Anyone can edit text in a image?

I have a logo for my new template on my web directory and the designer won't put my title in. I tried using a free photo program and only screwed it up. Can anyone do this and not change the size of the image at all?

Only the text has to be changed.

I'm not sure exactly what you want.
Matching what is on that sign I'm not so sure I can do.
Does it have to be a gif? Jpeg is much easier to work with.

The shading in that image looks very tricky. It blends very evenly from top to bottom.

For as plain as it looks its very well done. The more I play with it the more I think I can't do it.
